Sky blue-ing

Birds chirp~ing

March Eighteenth

March 18th...just another day for most.

For me, it marks the day I lost my mom.

Six years have gone by since my mother lost her battle to lung cancer; and, it finally feels as if the pain & grief of losing her has dulled a bit over time.  As my life carries on, it seems a little easier to conjure up more happy memories than sad ones.

With each calendar year, this particular date comes and goes.  Future ones might be extraordinary.  Or just ordinary.  With each passage of Earth around the sun, this day may even become an "anniversary" for other reasons.  If I am fortunate, there will be many more eighteenths of March for me to live and witness.

No matter how many more I am given or how I spend the day, one thing remains the same.  March 18 will forever be the day my mother died.  I miss her every day.  But, on this day, I miss her more.
